Hempcrete

Hempcrete is a mixture of lime, hemp, sand and water that is typically poured in-situ around a standard timber frame. Hemp can be grown locally and combined with an Australian made lime binder to make an incredible product. It has exceptional thermal performance all year round, with both heat storage and high insulative properties. Once rendered with a lime or clay plaster it can become air tight, making it a perfect material for passive house projects. Hemp is also non-toxic, breathable, humidity regulating, mould and termite retardant, extremely fire resistant, and carbon sequestering. We believe it is the best material on the market and essential to a net-zero future.

Passive House

Passive House is a voluntary standard to create extremely energy efficient buildings developed in Germany in 1990. Passive houses are verified at design, construction, and occupancy to ensure that you are receiving a home that meets the rigorous standard. In addition to the energy savings, passive houses are noted for their exceptional thermal comfort and air quality, making them the healthiest homes available on the market. Passive House construction has:

  • High insulation levels

  • Reduced thermal bridges

  • Airtightness

  • High-performance windows and doors

  • Mechanical ventilation with heat recovery

Off-the-plan Designs

The Resilient Home Series will provide complete construction documentation, configuring the plans to each clients particular site. The plans will be ready for planning and building approvals accompanied by a full specification, and include many details on the  airtight envelope and the idiosyncrasies of hempcrete. Specification of appliances, colours and finishes may be adapted to suit clients’ tastes.

We believe that more people should be able to live in high quality homes and that a well designed floorplan can suit many families. Off-the-plan design also includes the benefits of being:

  • Much faster than the 12-18 months it usually takes for a custom design process

  • Much cheaper than the $20-30,000 fees typically charged by a custom architectural service

  • Verified and refined. The process of building and continually improving these houses means that they are tested and extremely well considered
